Extreme heat warning - Wed 23rd to Thurs 24th

Extreme Heat Warning

You will be aware of the extreme heat warning this week for north Buckinghamshire, with very high temperaturs expected of between 33C and 38C.

No game is worth the risk. Whilst the club will remain open, health comes first, and you would be advised if you have the flexibility to play before 10am and after 8pm, to do so. Whilst the heat warning is place for Wednesday and Thursday, it is well over 30C now and the likely hood is that the hot weather will extend into Friday and Saturday this week.

Precautions you can take:

  1. Hydrate regularly: Have plenty of water on court and drink before you feel thirsty.
  2. Avoid the peak heat if at all possible: Limit activity during the daytime, but be careful as the heat is extending well into the evening on Weds and Thurs.
  3. Rest: take breaks, move into the shade when you can and maybe play a shorter game.
  4. Protect yourself: wear a hat, apply sunscreen and wear sunglasses.

Wimbledon Qualifying and Eastbourne carry on, but they are professional athletes wih plenty of emergency assistance on hand. At Stony, stop playing immediately if you feel unwell. Any dizziness, headache, nausea, cramps, confusion, move to a shaded area and ensure your playing partner can assist you. Please look after yourselves.
