SSLTC Grade 3 Tournament complete

Dear [[firstname]] [[lastname]]

Our 2025 torunament came to a close yesterday evening marking a very successful week for the club and many of our members. Thank you for all you patience during the week when, apart from early morning or late evening, the courts have been off limits to those members not competing. It was good to see the courts back in the hands of our members this morning in the sunshine, with all nine courts in use.

We had 255 visiting competitors during the week, up about 30% on 2024. Players visited from Yorkshire to Devon, and from Southend and Portsmouth to the West Midlands. With family and friends in tow, this means over 500 people have been through our gates this week. Around 10% of the competitors were from SSLTC entering events right from U8 through to Adult. Details of all the results and winners can be found at https://competitions.lta.org.uk/sport/winners.aspx?id=cc45355b-cdff-493a-b0f7-8a22d647591b

We are indebted to all those members that volunteered for kitchen duties. Providing a kitchen menu is a pre-requisite for a tournament such as this, and I'm pleased to say we increased our takings ten-fold over 2024. Overall the tournament will be a decent injection of cash to the club, but more importantly it puts Stony on the the UK's tennis map.

A couple of other items. The internal Club Championships entries remain open until 2nd May. Please sign up on the sheets on the club noticeboards.

Finally, look out for the opportunity for all over 18s to opt into the AELTC Centenary visit on the 20th August. Eight lucky members will be invited to play tennis on the Wimbledon grass, accompanied by eight non-playing club captains and committee. The mechanism to opt in will be announced shortly once we have worked out how to do it!

With best wishes,

Your Club Committee
