Dragging Air Dome Courts

Dear [[firstname]] [[lastname]]

With the Air Dome now in full use, can I please remind all those playing indoors that they must drag the courts after each use. We reapplied a couple of tons of red sand to the courts shortly before the Air Dome was erected, so it is particularly important that the dragging is done regularly.

BUT....it must be done in the correct manner. Please when dragging the courts start outside the court close to the dome skin and work inwards in a circular motion ending up around the T on the service line. This will slowly bring the sand back onto the court. Give the drag net a little shake from time to time when over the court playing surface, and when you finish, to leave the trapped sand on the court. There are also line brushes to clear excess sand from all the court markings.

Thank you. Any other method of dragging results in removing sand from the court and will shorten their lives. So here is a little summary.

DO DO NOT
Work in a circular motion outside working in. Drag from side to side. Each time you turn the corner the trapped sand drops off the mat, off the side of the court and builds up in a pile either side of the court.
Shake the trapped sand off the drag mat when over the court's playing surface. Drag from the inside out, in a circular motion, This simply drags the sand off to the sides.
Brush the lines. Shake the sand off the matt when the matt is off to the side of the court.

Just a reminder, the key for the Dome is located in the kitchen window. Please ensure you always lock the dome after use and return the key, or if someone is still in the Dome, they know where the key is and they are responsible for locking.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best wishes,

SSLTC Committee
