Happy Christmas and some exciting news for 2025

The club committee would like to wish all our members and their families a very happy Christmas. Have a great holiday whatever your plans and wherever you intend to be.

The club will be open as usual over the holiday and all courts bookable, weather permitting, as normal. We hope you get a chance to get some exercise with school's out and most away from work. Those supporting essential services, thank you, and we hope you get some time off soon.

And whilst I have you, thank you all for the marked improvement in the dragging of the indoor courts. Remember they should be dragged, after every use, in a circular motion from the outside in (not across in stripes). Correct dragging helps to retain and protect sand on the court, rather than dragging it off to the edges. But on to the exciting news for 2025......

For our centenary last year, I wrote to the AELTC at Wimbledon asking if we could visit the grass courts at SW19. I'm delighted to say, they have written to me this week, inviting me to take a small group of club members down on a visit next August, accompanied by a few of the committee. We will be given a tour of the club, eight lucky members will be able to play on the famous grass courts, followed by a cocktail reception in the evening.

I will write again in the new year with more details and asking all members to express an interest, and presuming it will be oversubscribed, will organise a ballot.
